SOCIETY OF LEADERS IN DEVELOPMENT (SOLID) RAISES $33,135 FOR SOLID SHARES PARTNERS THIS YEAR
ANNUAL TURKEY BOWL EVENT GENERATES $17,521
Nashville, TN - December 20, 2024 - Society of Leaders In Development (SOLID) will wrap up 2024 having raised a grand total of $33,135 for this year's SOLID Shares partners. SOLID Shares is a philanthropic initiative that allows the organization to raise money for a select number of nonprofits. The 2024 SOLID Shares partners include Brooklyn Heights Community Garden, Hope On The Row, Musicians On Call, Nashville Launch Pad, and Special Olympics Tennessee. Each year, SOLID raises money for SOLID Shares partners through two events, Music Row Madness and Turkey Bowl.
SOLID hosted the annual Turkey Bowl this November, a flag football tournament featuring teams from across the music industry. SMACKSongs took home the gold trophy this year for the fourth time and the event brought in $17,521 for SOLID Shares partners.
SOLID Community Outreach Chair Guy Evans reflected on his experience leading the SOLID Shares initiative with Co-Chair Becky Parsons, stating "It has been a true joy working with our five 2024 SOLID Shares partners this year. The work these nonprofits are able to achieve is incredible, and I’m very grateful that we were able to contribute to their missions. Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, and supported us this year.”
"We are incredibly proud of the impact our contributions and volunteer hours have had for both our SOLID Members and SOLID Shares partners year after year," said SOLID President Rio Van Risseghem, echoing the sentiments from Evans. "2024 especially opened new opportunities for our members to engage, as we chose a diverse set of Shares partners - Brooklyn Heights Community Garden, Hope On The Row, Musicians On Call, Nashville Launch Pad, and Special Olympics of Tennessee. We're constantly looking to find new ways to bring awareness to these organizations, and I think this year we were very intentional in our approach. Personally, it is such a joy to give back to our community, as it's at the center of our mission as an organization."
SOLID launched 26 years ago with a vision to develop a community for music industry professionals to network and brainstorm together, while also providing educational opportunities for entry to mid-level professionals. SOLID hosts several education panels, networking events and philanthropic opportunities throughout the year. In addition, SOLID has implemented programs to mentor 100s of college students to date, launched the philanthropic initiative SOLID Shares, created a diversity and inclusion task force comprising of board members, current members and alumni as well as raising over $450,000 for local charities and accumulating over 500+ hours of volunteer time to the Nashville community. SOLID continues to grow, in part, due to the generous contributions of its annual Friends of SOLID sponsor partners. For more information about SOLID, visit solidnashville.org.
