SOLID KICKS OFF THE SUMMER SEASON WITH ANNUAL MUSIC ROW MADNESS EVENT, RAISING $15,614 FOR SOLID SHARES PARTNERS
SOLID Held Its Annual Student Scholarship Competition
Nashville, TN - June 14, 2024 - Society of Leaders In Development (SOLID) recently hosted its annual Music Row Madness event, earning $15,614 for SOLID Shares Partners including Brooklyn Heights Community Garden, Hope On the Row, Musicians On Call, Nashville Launch Pad, and Special Olympics Tennessee. Participating teams engaged in a friendly but competitive bowling competition at Eastside Bowl to raise money for these various organizations.
"This year marks the fourteenth year of our Music Row Madness fundraising event," SOLID President Rio Van Risseghem shared. "Our organization takes great joy in choosing our annual SOLID Shares partners, and I am especially excited by the diversity of non-profit missions we are supporting both in financial assistance and volunteer hours. Our Community Outreach Chairs Guy Evans and Becky Parsons have been integral in keeping members engaged with our SOLID Shares partners, and have also done an amazing job rallying the support of our wider music community."
Additionally, SOLID recently held its annual SOLID Student Scholarship Competition which works to recognize outstanding music business and marketing students with a passion for the entertainment industry. This year, participating students were charged with the task of developing a campaign for artist Sam Williams. The winning team walked away with prize money and all participants received a toolkit to assist with their professional development.
"It was such an incredible experience to get to be a part of the SOLID Marketing Plan Competition for college students in Middle Tennessee," said artist Sam Williams. "I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of creative ideas expressed and professionalism executed by the students. Some of the ideas shared within the projects are planning to be incorporated within our album release timeline for this upcoming year. I am so thankful and excited to connect with young minds and to have shared a reciprocal motivating experience. Seeing the students excited about my project makes me more thrilled to deliver it to the world! I hope to maintain some of the relationships with members in SOLID and am excited for their futures in the music industry!"
Additionally, SOLID President Rio Van Risseghem shared her excitement for this year's competition, stating, "Seeing the confidence of these students connecting textbook knowledge with real life application excites us on what new innovations are right around the corner in our ever evolving industry. Our Ambassadorship Chairs Jared Meyer and Alannah Schwartz did a stellar job of guiding students through their presentations, even consolidating an industry resource guide for participants to take home with them."
SOLID launched 26 years ago with a vision to develop a community for music industry professionals to network and brainstorm together, while also providing educational opportunities for entry to mid-level professionals. SOLID hosts several education panels, networking events, and philanthropic opportunities throughout the year. In addition, SOLID has implemented programs to mentor 100s of college students to date, launched the philanthropic initiative SOLID Shares, created a diversity and inclusion task force comprising of board members, current members and alumni as well as raised over $450,000 for local charities and accumulating over 500+ hours of volunteer time to the Nashville community. SOLID continues to grow, in part, due to the generous contributions of its annual Friends of SOLID sponsor partners. For more information about SOLID, visit solidnashville.org.
